My recent stay at Hotel Schwarzer Adler in Sillian was a mixed experience. The location, in the heart of Sillian in East Tyrol's Puster Valley, was convenient for exploring the stunning surroundings on my alpine trek. The covered parking space for bicycles was a plus as I love to explore on two wheels.The room, although basic with bunk beds, had its charm with a private bathroom equipped with a bath or shower. The daily breakfast buffet was rich and satisfying, setting a good tone for the day ahead. The friendly staff, especially Alexa, Sophia, and Roman, added a personal touch to my stay.Although the hotel lacked certain modern amenities in the room like a TV and WiFi, the owners' expertise in outdoor sports and mountaineering was evident and appealing to adventurous souls. The on-site restaurant offered a pleasant dining experience, and the bar was a nice spot to unwind after a day of exploring.Hotel Schwarzer Adler is a decent choice for a short stopover when venturing into the Dolomites, especially for bikers and outdoor enthusiasts. The children's playground and ski school make it family-friendly, and the tour desk and bike hire services cater to those seeking outdoor adventures. At 150 km from Kranebitten, the hotel provides a cozy base for exploring the picturesque region.
